Humog is a preparation of human menopausal gonadotropin. It consists of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), which are necessary for normal maturation of gametes (folliculogenesis in women and spermatogenesis in men) and for the production of sex steroid hormones. Menotropin acts in women – on the ovaries and stimulates the maturation of the follicles, raises the level of estrogens, stimulates the proliferation of the endometrium, in men – stimulates spermatogenesis, affects the cells of Sertoli seed tubules, stimulates the formation and activation of testosterone and Human Growth Hormone (HGH) spermatogenesis. In addition, the drug can be successfully used to stimulate the development of more than one follicle in assisted reproduction programs (in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF and PE) and transfer of gametes into the fallopian tube (GIFT).
Male Reproductive System – Hormonal Function and Regulation
Dyspeptic phenomena, vomiting, flatulence, allergic reactions.
From the ovaries, a moderate (uncomplicated) enlargement of the ovaries and the formation of ovarian cysts.
Treatment with menotropin in some cases can lead to ovarian hyperstimulation. This is manifested by ovarian cysts, which tearing can cause bleeding. Subsequently, with a severe degree of hyperstimulation syndrome, ascites, hydrothorax, oliguria, hypotension, and thromboembolic phenomenon develop. At the first sign of threatening hyperstimulation (pain and bloating, a corresponding ultrasound picture), it is necessary to stop treatment. In the case of pregnancy, the symptoms of hyperstimulation may increase.
In the treatment of menotropin often there are multiple pregnancies.
Local reactions: pain at the injection site.
Other: fever, arthralgia, pain in the mammary glands; Gynecomastia (in men).
With prolonged use, the formation of antibodies is possible.
The combined use of menotropin and clomiphene citrate may increase the response of the follicle. When combined with gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists, an increase in the dose of menotropin may be required. Menotropin should not be mixed with other medicines in the same syringe.
